Land and houses for sale in Abanilla, inland Murcia

Abanilla is a small town in the interior of the Región de Murcia, close to the border with Alicante province. Its landscape is unlike the coast: bare ochre hills and dry ravines that frame a green ribbon of orchards and palm trees along the Chícamo river. It appeals to buyers who want land, peace and a genuinely low entry price, with the city of Murcia only around half an hour away. Most of CasaAqui's listings in Abanilla are rustic plots – ideal for a weekend retreat, a vegetable garden or a long-term project – and we help with every step of the purchase.

Abanilla sits in the north-east of the Región de Murcia, between Fortuna, Santomera and the Vega Baja area of Alicante. The town grew up beside the Chícamo, a modest river that creates an oasis of small farms, fruit trees and palms in an otherwise semi-arid setting. Around it you’ll find rugged hills, dry riverbeds and eroded slopes – a striking, almost lunar scenery that walkers, cyclists and photographers love.

The climate is dry and Mediterranean: an enormous number of sunny days, very little rain, hot summers and mild winter days with cool nights. If you buy here, plan for shade, good insulation and a reliable water supply for any garden.

By car, Murcia city is about 30–35 minutes away and Orihuela roughly the same. Región de Murcia International Airport (RMU) at Corvera is around 45–55 minutes, and Alicante-Elche Airport (ALC) about 50–60 minutes. The coast – Guardamar, Torrevieja or the Mar Menor – is around an hour’s drive, and the thermal baths of Fortuna are just down the road.

Abanilla suits people looking for a leisure plot, a smallholding with a cabin, space for animals or simply a piece of Spanish countryside at prices the coast can no longer match. Our portfolio is dominated by rustic land starting from around €20,000–25,000, with a median close to €50,000; occasionally a house or commercial unit comes up, and the odd large estate can be priced much higher. On rustic land it is essential to check with the town hall what may be built, whether existing structures are legal, and how water and electricity are supplied.

CasaAqui supports you with your NIE, bank account, notary and translations, so the process stays clear and safe even from abroad.
