Guardamar del Segura sits at the southern end of Alicante province, in the Vega Baja area, exactly where the River Segura meets the Mediterranean. Elche lies to the north and Torrevieja to the south, so you get a relaxed town atmosphere with larger towns and shopping close by.

The town is best known for its dunes. Early in the twentieth century a long belt of shifting sand was stabilised with pine and eucalyptus trees, and today it forms a shady pine forest that is perfect for walking, jogging or cycling. In front of it run kilometres of open, golden-sand beaches with plenty of room even in high season. The La Mata and Torrevieja Lagoons Natural Park is just a short drive away, popular for walking routes and birdwatching.

The climate is dry Mediterranean: mild winters, lots of sunshine and hot summers softened by the sea breeze. That makes Guardamar a realistic option for living here permanently, not only for holidays.

Travel is straightforward. Alicante-Elche Airport (ALC) is roughly 25–30 minutes by car, with frequent flights to the UK and Ireland, while Región de Murcia Airport (RMU, Corvera) is about 45–55 minutes away. Alicante city is around half an hour up the coast.

Most of the properties we currently list are apartments, many in communities with a shared pool and within walking distance of the beach. There are also a few houses, commercial units, parking spaces and the odd plot. Prices move daily, so treat these as a rough guide: garages and small units start from just over ten thousand euros, most apartments sit roughly between €150,000 and €300,000, the median asking price is around €260,000, and the most exclusive homes go above one million.

Guardamar suits families who want schools and services all year, retirees looking for a walkable town by the sea, and buyers who want a holiday home with good airport access. If you plan to let your property to tourists, a licence is required and the rules depend on the town hall and the community of owners. CasaAqui can also manage your holiday rental once you have bought.
