Houses and apartments for sale in Orihuela
Orihuela city is not the same place as the coastal developments of Orihuela Costa. It is the historic capital of the Vega Baja, with a monumental old town, a cathedral, a vast palm grove and farmland watered by the River Segura. People buy here to live a genuinely Spanish life, with city services, schools and Murcia close by. At CasaAqui Costa we list houses, apartments, country homes and plots in and around Orihuela, and we help you with viewings, the NIE, a bank account, the notary and translations.

Luxury New Build Villas in Las Colinas Golf and Country Club, Orihuela Costa

Orihuela lies inland in the south of Alicante province, at the foot of the Sierra de Orihuela, with the River Segura flowing right through the town. It is one of the largest municipalities in the province: as well as the city itself it takes in farming hamlets across the fertile plain and, about 30 kilometres away, the coastal strip known as Orihuela Costa. This page is about the city and its inland surroundings.
The historic centre is one of the richest in the Valencia region, with a cathedral, churches, convents and the former Santo Domingo college, now a university building. It is also the birthplace of the poet Miguel Hernández. Next to the centre is the Palmeral de Orihuela, one of the largest palm groves in Europe, and all around stretches the Vega Baja market garden of citrus trees and vegetables.
The climate is inland Mediterranean: mild, sunny winters with slightly cooler nights than on the coast, and hot summers. The nearest beaches are around 30–35 minutes by car, and Murcia city around 20–25 minutes.
Región de Murcia Airport (RMU, Corvera) is about 30–40 minutes away, and Alicante-Elche Airport (ALC) about 40–45 minutes by motorway.
Most of our listings here are houses: townhouses and detached villas, traditional country houses and fincas with land in the outlying hamlets, plus apartments in town, building plots and a few commercial units. Prices change daily and are only a guide: the most affordable apartments start at around €100,000, the median asking price is roughly €290,000, and the largest country estates can exceed two million.
Orihuela suits buyers who want authentic Spanish town life, more space for their money and a quieter pace, families who need schools and services all year, and anyone who would rather have a house with land than a beach apartment. If you are thinking about holiday letting, remember that a tourist licence is required and the rules depend on the town hall and, where relevant, the community of owners.
