Country houses and land for sale in Monóvar

Monóvar, or Monòver in Valencian, is a town in the Vinalopó Medio, in the inland part of Alicante province. Surrounded by vineyards and low mountains, it is the birthplace of the writer Azorín and the home of Fondillón, one of Spain's most distinctive wines. If you are looking for a country house, a finca with land or an affordable plot less than an hour from the coast and the airport, Monóvar offers a quiet, authentic alternative to the resorts. CasaAqui Costa lists land and country homes here and helps you check all the paperwork before you buy.

Monóvar lies in the Vinalopó valley, about 40 kilometres from Alicante city, surrounded by vineyards, almond and olive groves and small mountain ranges on the horizon. The neighbouring towns of Elda, Petrer and Novelda are close by and offer more shops and services. Farming and wine define the area: this is where Fondillón is made, a long-aged wine from Monastrell grapes protected by the Alicante designation of origin. The town is also home to the house museum of Azorín, one of Spain's great twentieth-century writers.

The climate is dry Mediterranean, with hot summers, little rain and winters that are a little cooler than on the coast, especially at night. It is a bright, clean-air setting that suits people who enjoy the countryside, walking and cycling. The town has shops, a health centre, schools and all the everyday essentials.

Connections are good. Alicante-Elche Airport (ALC) is about 40–45 minutes by car and Region of Murcia Airport (RMU, Corvera) a little over an hour. The beaches around Alicante are roughly 45 minutes away.

Most listings in Monóvar are rustic plots and land, followed by country houses and fincas. It is one of the most affordable markets in the area: the median asking price in our portfolio is around €55,000–60,000, with small plots from just a few thousand euros and the occasional large estate approaching €800,000. On rustic land it is essential to check what may be built, whether existing buildings are legal and registered, and how water and electricity are supplied.

Monóvar suits buyers who want rural life without being far from Alicante, people who want a vegetable garden or space for animals, and anyone dreaming of restoring an old country house. Tourist or rural rentals require a licence and must follow regional and local rules. CasaAqui Costa supports you with your NIE, bank account, notary and translations, so you can buy with confidence.
